Diesel Volvo S60 for Edman
STCC 24/04/02
Jens Edman will get to drive for Volvo this season, though not in any major competitions. At first it looked like Jens would get the second seat in the ETCC with Rydell. Though supposedly due to finances James Hanson got that seat instead.
Edman will drive a Volvo S60 Diesel in the new Swedish support series S60 Challenge. (S60 Challenge will be a support race to the ETCC round at Anderstorp in Sweden) The S60 Diesel will race among the other usual S60 Challenge cars "Jens Edman has participated in the development of the car, and he will also drive the cars during the races," said Alexander Murdzevski from Volvo.
The Diesel S60 car will produce around 250 bhp, 15 bhp less than the petrol S60 Challenge cars, but with more torque. "We have set our target at 250 bhp and 500 Nm for this enhanced version of Volvo's new 2.4 litre diesel engine in aluminium. With this package we ought to keep up with the other Challenge cars, and perhaps even get in to the topfight sometime," said Olle Odsell from Volvo.
